Allergen Removal by Ozone
Clogged noses, bouts of coughing and sneezing. Tiring watery runny nose and watery eyes. Allergy. Some type of allergy affects more than 20% of the population of most developed countries.
“We try to keep our house spotless but that does not solve the problems. My 3-year-old Miki and 9-year-old Masha suffer from allergies for most of the year and recently I have been sneezing more often for “no reason”. How to remove allergies caused by mites from our home? Will ozonizing of our help us fight this disease?” asks Tess from Manchester.
Let’s start with the fact that allergy is a civilisation-related disease. There are two influencing factors: genes and the environment in which we live. We have no influence on what we inherit from our ancestors, but we can control the environment we live in.
Answering the main question whether ozone will help fight allergies, we can write with 100% certainty –
YES! It will help a lot.
Eliminate the cause
Ozone will protect us against a common type of allergy – allergy to house dust mites. To get rid of bothersome symptoms we must remove the cause. That is to get rid of our homes of allergens, i.e. mites. And more specifically, their droppings.
Fecal balls covered with mucus stick to mattresses, curtains, rugs, carpets, upholstery or furniture. They accumulate in those places the most because they find the best conditions for survival there and we can not simply remove them with a damp cloth.
Fatigue and headache
There is slightly less of them in floor dust. If they reach a concentration of 100 mites per 1 gram of dust, it is a dangerous amount for a person suffering from allergies. Allergy to house dust is long-lasting, so in addition to the above, the following allergy symptoms may appear later: fatigue, drowsiness, impaired concentration, headaches.
Mites are arachnids – mostly reaching sizes from 0.1mm to 1mm. They feed on exfoliated human and animal epidermis, microorganisms (e.g. fungi) and organic residues.
From August to November
The best conditions for their development are found in warm and humid environment – temperatures from 21-28 degrees Centigrade (69.8 – 82.4 Degrees Fahrenheit) and humidity above 70%.
One generation develops in about 4 weeks. Therefore, in our climate zone, optimal conditions for reproduction of mites are found in the period from August to November, which does not mean that their harmful effect ceases in the remaining months. It’s just a tad less bothersome for allergy sufferers.
Scientists know about 30,000 species of mites. In UK two species dominate, but it is enough to make the lives of allergic people more difficult.
Ozonation instead of washing
The best therapeutic method is to avoid contact with allergens, or allergenic substances. For this purpose, you should often wash carpets, quilts, curtains, clean mattresses and upholstered furniture.
Ozonation will save us everyday hardships. Ozone kills these organisms already at 0.005 ppm. It also removes mould and fungi and is extremely fast and does not leave any harmful chemical residues or damp carpets etc after washing.
The ozonation treatment should be repeated once every two months or even once a month (to prevent the new generation cycle of mites). This is a simple and very effective way to fight mites and other organisms causing allergy. There is simply no better way to remove the allergy-causing mites.
